Middlewoods of Farmington Assisted & Independent Living Community Celebrates 20 Years

Farmington, CT – Middlewoods of Farmington’s 20th Anniversary Celebration on March 22 will be a true family reunion. Current residents, their families, and staff will come together with the families of those that have lived in and loved the assisted living community since its start in 1999.

“We are like family in every sense of the word,” says longtime employee, Ginny Brown, who has been with Middlewoods since 2006. What sets our community apart from others is the lifetime connections we create here.” Executive Director Bianca Reome adds, “It is incredible that as we celebrate 20 years, we have many staff who have been with us over 10-15 years, as well as 2nd generation residents moving in. We still keep in touch with many families who had a loved one here. That says a lot about a community.”

Rose Ponte, Farmington’s Town Economic Development Director and former Middlewoods employee, says, “For 20 years Middlewoods of Farmington has provided a loving environment for seniors to thrive and live in a community of friends, family and expert caregivers. Their award-winning approach offers seniors an opportunity to live in a comfortable, safe, home-like setting with a wealth of entertainment options and amenities. Residents at Middlewoods are respected, looked after and cared for; resulting in the perfect setting to enjoy one’s golden years. Congratulations for offering this exceptional experience for the past 20 years.”

Resident Helen Carney values the staff and their support of volunteering inside Middlewoods, and out in the Farmington community. “I have the highest regard for the staff. They are very giving. They encourage us to pursue our interests in volunteer activities, and make it easy for us to get where we need to go.”

Some examples of interactions that build and strengthen resident and staff relationships include: The award-winning Angel Program where residents greet and take new residents around to help them adjust; 17-year employee, Linda Midwinter, Director of Nursing leads a prayer group; Executive Director Reome bakes with residents on the weekend; and Mike LaMere, Director of Plant Operations and 14-year employee, organizes pool tournaments with his staff and residents. “It’s all about taking a sincere interest in our residents and helping them to live life to the fullest,” says Reome.
